Les Simmonds

Les Simmonds is an experienced therapist with post graduate qualifications in Cognitive-Behavioural and Couple and Family Therapy. In addition, Les holds certificates in group-work, community-work and supervision

Les has worked in diverse community settings, including general counselling services for individuals, couples and families, alcohol and drug counselling, sexual abuse counselling for males and is now working extensively with men experiencing anxiety and depression. Group-work supervision and therapy have been consistently integrated throughout Les’ practice, which spans over twenty-five years. In addition to working directly with clients, Les has held a number of management positions in social services, including Chief Executive Officer of a large organisation. Alongside his private practice, Les is the National Advisor: Family Therapy Services for Stand for Children Services.

Les has also co-authored several books, including a text for counsellors, social workers and psychologists (Counselling for Sexual Abuse, Oxford University Press) and Raising Teens (Random House).

Les’ qualifications include a Bachelor of Social Science, Certificate in Supervision, Certificate in Group-Work, Diploma in Management, Postgraduate Certificate in Family Therapy and a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy).

Counselling and Therapy session charges: Les is committed to providing an affordable service to clients and is open to negotiating his standard fee of $90.00 per session.
